7.10 (B) "May the power of the Mouse be with you"

In the times of breaking news about the biggest storm to ever hit the U.S. East Coast, there comes a blast from the West: Disney has bought LucasFilm for 4,050 millions of dollars. Period.
In Star Wars jargon now we can say that "The Mouse has conquered the dark side of the Force and literally has become more powerful than we could ever imagine".
As simple as that.
Being myself a fan of many products from both entertainment powerhouses, and understanding that "business is the word", I only can say that if the newly acquired property is treated as like as most of the material from Pixar and Marvel (Disney's most recent and lucrative acquisitions) has been worked on over the past years, and especially taking the word of George Lucas himself about "passing the legacy of Star Wars to new filmmakers", then I believe that there could be an awesome future for the saga.
To think about a new trilogy that would involve creative people like those from Disney & Pixar, with the opportunity to hire a great director and with the proper use of technology to finally make again a good movie about starships and distant planets, with action and compelling stories from its beloved characters, both old and new, then I can't wait for 2015.
But miracles like a good "Episode 7" can only be accomplished if Lucas is true to his word about not directing any new Star Wars movie and Disney works on it with the same passion of its own founder back in the day when the company was not the entertainment juggernaut that it has become today.
Not only the media but even the theme parks will also get their own share of the Star Wars-Indiana Jones "combo", because the already popular "E" ticket rides now will have a chance of becoming complete "lands" or brand new parks.
Only time will tell if it was a wise move to buy that franchise "in the middle of the storm", but like many people, I think that these current times may be also a good moment to re-imagine what has happened in a galaxy far, far away.
... well, it'll be good as long as there are no new annoying characters (enter Jar Jar Binks) in the foreseeable future of Star Wars.

7.9 (D) "Things have changed"

No tiene quizá el carisma de Bono, no es tan atento como Roger Waters o ni siquiera es la décima parte de lo adorable que puede ser McCartney con el público. De hecho, Bob Dylan llega, canta y se va (no sin antes presentar a la banda que le acompaña en la única vez de todo el concierto en que de alguna manera "habla" con el respetable).
En el acto previo, Mark Knopfler fue todo lo contrario, en su set de 50 minutos en algunas ocasiones se dirigió al público de un Sports Arena de San Diego que no se llenó (al menos en su parte superior), una buena banda con algunos músicos de extraordinario nivel.
Cuando llegó Bob Dylan lo único que apareció fue la música por 90 minutos ininterrumpidos. Dylan tocó en mayor proporción el piano y en momentos aprovechó para tocar su inconfundible armónica. Se da el lujo de cambiar arreglos y letras, y aunque su voz ya no es lo que solía ser, el señor sigue siendo una leyenda viviente de la música a pesar de que "las cosas [incluido el mundo] han cambiado".

7.8 (B) A new hope 3.0

Quizá nunca termine de entender para qué sirve realmente un blog... y este espacio se volvió demasiado complejo cuando en realidad siempre debió ser el medio de expresión de un cierto "John Pythons", algo más congruente con esas mini biografías en redes sociales que con el individuo confundido entre lo real y lo ficticio. 
Hoy que ha sido un día importante y muy divertido, al menos he tomado la decisión de que este blog, tal como el twitter y el facebook, son medios que la tecnología ofrece para estar más comunicados pero sin perder la capacidad de asombro. Participaré más seguido y más conciso cuando sea pertinente, pero siempre escribiendo a título personal: las palabras aquí se quedan y son responsabilidad de un servidor, (ninguna institución o terceros de por medio). 
Yo todavía creo en la buena voluntad de la gente y en que cada quien atiende su propio negocio y respeta la libertad de los demás. Si hay crítica será responsable, si hay opinión será apasionada y si hay información será divertida.

Hoy me preguntaron si quería "ser feliz"... tan fácil y tan difícil pero por lo pronto "SÍ" y empieza el camino largo y sinuoso para atrapar esa nueva esperanza.
